Del Taco has retired its Buck & Under Menu, but you can still order everything from burritos to iced coffee for under two dollars from its 20 Under $2 Menu. This Mexican-style eatery offers some of the best fast food deals for under $2, including specialty items like the Chicken Del Carbon Taco and the new Chicken Cheddar Rollers.

Dairy Queen no longer offers a dollar menu, but DQ still serves up different fast food deals throughout the year, including Happy Hour specials, which may include your favorite drinks and the always popular buy-one-get-one for 99 cents Blizzard promotion.

There you go with that reflexive sniffiness about dollar stores. You get what you pay for, right? Nothing but brand-name knock offs or cheap stuff built to not last, you figure. And then the biggest player in the game, Dollar Tree, raised its fixed price from $1 to $1.25 on most items. How is that even a dollar store?

More about our caution: Some shopping experts aren't entirely into buying school supplies at dollar stores. If you need a large amount, they say, you're better off buying school supplies at warehouse clubs.

Like hair accessories, reading glasses were made to be lost, so why pay more than you have to? A pair of Gry (yes, they left out the vowel, Vanna) Matters reading glasses at Staples was $29.99 when I checked. Instead, for $1.25, you can pick up a pair (or two or three) at Dollar Tree. Like with Costco, Target and other retailers, the readers at the dollar store come in various strengths.

I have a weakness for dollar stores. I mean the good kind, where everything in the store actually costs just one dollar. From small useful items to silly toys to candy, it's fun (and handy) to grab a bunch of items when they're only a buck each.

For those times when you can't or don't want to make it to a dollar store, Amazon can fill that void. I combed through the massive retail site's offerings to find the best products that cost within 5 cents of a dollar. Prices seem to fluctuate with these items, but I can assure you at the time of publication, they really are that cheap. And of course, the beauty in cheap things is that sometimes they can prove to be priceless.

With 1 dollar, what things you can buy around the world? It's could be 2 kg of potatoes or a bottle of Coke only. In fact that about 15 percent of people spend less than $2 a day. If you have a budget with $1 only, what could you afford?

Have ever thought of going shopping with only $1 (US dollar)? In Vietnam, with each dollar, you can exchange for about VND 23,000 as of July 2018. With this amount of money, you are definitely able to purchase a few necessities:

The stamp has many different sizes, colors, and shapes. Each stamp has the price of VND 2,000 ($0.1) to VND 15,000 ($0.75). You can buy them in the souvenir stores around the central city or inside the Saigon Central Post Office and send a postcard there as well. Stamps and postcards are considered as affordable things you can buy in Vietnam.

It is important to point out that the the legal tender of the Dominican Republic is the Dominican Peso, written RD$. Today you would be able to exchange 1 U.S. Dollar for about 56.8 Dominican Pesos. We only chose the dollar because it is understood by most countries to some extent. A quick Google search will provide you with a plethora of currency converters.

Another mundane, yet necessary item: water. For under a dollar (about RD$50), you can get 1 botellón (big bottle) of water. You can pick them up about anywhere, literally. The first time you get one, you will have to pay RD$100 deposit for the bottle, but you can have that refunded when you are finished with it and bring it back. Otherwise, you can get a 20oz bottle of Dasani for RD$14.

At the grocery store, local fruits and vegetables are the way to go! When you start getting into anything imported it starts to get more expensive. For 1 dollar you can get 1lb of yucca, 1lb of limon, or the ingredients it takes to make a plate of mangu y vegetales for breakfast (mashed platano, fried egg, small bell pepper, and small onion).

And we saved the very best for last. When we started the thread by asking the local community for their input on this post, this was the thing that everyone seemed to be most excited about. At the entrance to the Callejón de la loma, there is a place on the left, right before you get to restaurant Bliss, that serves fresh empanadas from 6am until noon. Suave and his sidekick are steadily slinging out a mix of chicken, cheese, and egg empanadas to the hungry crowd, so be prepared to wait a minute or two and you will be generously rewarded for your patience. For about RD$50 you are entitled to your choice of 2 empanadas and a small juice of the day (today was tamarindo or melon). We upgraded to the large cup of juice for an extra 10 pesos, slightly pushing our order out of the 1 dollar range, but totally worth it!

We hope you find this post useful! If you have any input on other things you can get for 1 dollar post it in the comments and we will investigate, take pics, and write another article on it. Big shout out to everyone on Everything Cabarete who helped by giving their input!

As someone who lives in a touristy beach town (Puerto Vallarta), I can attest to the fact that you can still find some things for under a buck, even here! The bus costs 10 pesos anywhere in town and you can even get all the way down to Boca de Tomatlan for an extra 10, so $1 total. I think it's about 20 pesos up to Bucerias these days. There are still taco carts here with options for 10 pesos or less. I often eat ceviche tostadas for around 20 pesos as it's so fresh here. Hard to find those 20 peso beers in bars these days but 25-30 is pretty standard and you can still grab tall-boy cans from the local shops for 20.

Wow! Really surprising post! We love to explore and learn posts for our future Mexico trips and understand things that we didn't know... It's definitely good news for us that we can get so many things so cheap!

Obviously, the longer the timeline you leave your money invested, the more time compounding has to grow your wealth. If you invested $1 a day for 50 years, for example, you'd end up with over $467,000 -- and the initial dollar you invested on day one would be worth about $117.

For most people, saving $1 a day isn't enough -- by itself -- to make them rich. But the fact that you can end up with tens of thousands, or even hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars, from a $1 investment just shows the power of small, consistent effort.

Cheap games are often associated with poor quality, but Steam is a place where low prices can actually get players some entertaining titles. Some of the games are super cheap too, going as far as under a dollar. Their quality is more than most expect for just about three quarters.

Updated December 29, 2021, by Allison Stalberg:Part of what makes cheap games so popular is that there is a lack of risk for the buyer. Buying a game for a couple of cents and disliking it is far less painful than buying a 60 dollar game and ending up hating it. A game costing as much as a stick of gum is a great deal, even if the game turns out to not be a winner. These games are cheap mostly due to their simplicity, and gamers can be entertained for a few hours for just a couple of quarters. Cheap games can turn out to be a great investment.

Released in 2014, Mountain boasts itself as a game where nothing matters. It has overwhelmingly positive reviews, and a lot of players have called this more of an "experience" than a game. It is a title that helps de-stress and self-reflect. For those wanting something action-packed, they should look elsewhere. The few negative reviews call Mountain more of an interactive screensaver than an actual game. It's not for everyone, but it is definitely a hidden gem for just under a dollar.

Not to be confused for Alpacapaca Double Dash, which is five dollars, Alpacapaca Dash is just 99 cents. It is a basic shooter game, where the player is an alpaca that runs, jumps, dodges, and shoots for a high score. Coins can also be collected to unlock 11 different alpacas and upgrades.

Developed and published by SEGA, Streets of Rage can be a bit of a nostalgic trip for some. It was originally released in 1991 in Arcades and for the Sega Genesis. The first three games are just under a dollar on Steam. However, the fourth game was released in 2020 and is over 20 dollars.

Krista at FitSmallBusiness found that percentage discounts typically outperform dollar amount deals. However, Craig Simpson at Entrepreneur cites a study which found that a $50 off coupon beat a 15% off promo. 041b061a72
