ZIL 130 Amur Truck


The ZIL-131 is a general purpose 3.5 tonne 6x6 army truck designed in the Soviet Union by ZIL. The basic model being a general cargo truck.[1] Variants include a tractor-trailer truck, a dump truck, a fuel truck, and a 6x6 for towing a 4-wheeled powered trailer.




ZIL 130 Amur Truck



The ZIL-130 is a Soviet/Russian truck produced by ZIL in Moscow, Russia. The first prototype was built in 1956. Production began in 1962, while mass production started in 1964. It was one of the most numerous cargo trucks in the USSR and Russia, in total ZIL built 3,380,000 trucks up to 1994. In 1995, production was moved to the now-defunct Ural Motor Plant (UamZ, its trucks were known as UamZ-43140).


The ZiL plant started working on a replacement for the ZIL-164, right after De-Stalinization took place. The first prototype was built some months later and had a brand new cabin, as well as a wider windshield influenced by Dodge trucks.[1]


The new model retained little from its predecessor, with a new V8 engine and a more reinforced frame, however, the newer truck was slightly shorter than the ZIL-164 truck.[1] Mass-production started in 1964 under the ZIL-130 name, and soon the ZIL-164 was discontinued in favor of its more modern successor.


The ZIL-130 received the latest features adopted by the global car industry of the 1950s while not being based on any foreign model and having a unique chassis, cabin and other parts.[1] In 1965 the heavier ZIL-131 truck started getting produced. In 1986 the company started producing the newer ZIL-4331 truck, but production of the ZIL-130 continued even after the dissolution of the Soviet Union, eventually ending in 1995, when the design tooling was sold to UamZ and production continued as the UamZ-43140 truck until 2012.

The ZIL-131 has a civilian version the ZIL-130, both were introduced in 1967 as a family of two trucks sharing identical components. The ZIL-131 6x6 has the same equipment as the GAZ-66 and Ural-375D.


The Ural Automotor Factory was founded in 1967 as one of the subsidiaries of Zavod imeni Likhachova, more commonly known as ZiL subordinated to the USSR Ministry of Automotive Industry. In 1977, the factory started their own production of vehicles, first of which was a terrain truck ZiL-157. In 1987, the factory expanded its commercial production of trucks to ZIL-130 and ZIL-131, and their common trailers. By 1992, the factory had mastered the production of special equipment vehicles based on its original trucks. In 1992, after the collapse of Soviet Union, the factory was privatized from the Ministry of Automotive Industry and reorganized into the Joint-Stock Company under the name of "Ural Automotor Plants" (RU-"UAMZ"). The management did not survive separation from the central economics of former Soviet Union, and in 2002, the factory declared bankruptcy. In 2003, the Bank of Northern Treasury (holding North Prom Cohen) bought the remaining assets from the bankruptcy, and, in 2004, pursued reorganization into CJSC "Ural Automobiles and Motors", abbreviated as "AMUR". [1]


In May 2004, AMUR and India's Tata Motors entered into a contract to build TATA trucks at the factory. Together, they co-produced two models of Tata 407 and Tata 613 branded as AMUR-4346. The partners planned on signing a 3-year contract, with the release of up to 5,000 trucks per year.[2][3] But the project was never realized. In 2007, AMUR planned on establishing a joint production with China's Geely Automobile, to produce models of Geely CK[4] and the Chinese company Great Wall Motors for the production of SUVs Zxauto Landmark; production trials began in May 2007.[5]


In July 16, 2010 AMUR and French manufacturer Renault Trucks entered into a joint venture for the production of light-duty trucks Midlum, under which the production would be placed at AMUR facilities. In the joint venture, AMUR was investing facilities and operating capital, and Renault Trucks was investing its manufacturing know-how and technology.[8]
